Who we are
This website is operated by Sentig DIP – Digital Independence Platform. You can reach us at: https://blackbox.sentig-dip.com
For a project rooted in digital autonomy, it should go without saying — but we’ll say it anyway: we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what control you have over it.
What data we collect and why
Comments
If you leave a comment, we collect the information you provide in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent string. This is used solely for spam detection — not for tracking or profiling.
A hashed (anonymized) version of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use a profile image. You can review Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. If your comment is approved, any associated profile picture will be visible alongside it.
Media
If you upload images to the site, please be aware that they may contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Other visitors could potentially access and extract that data, so we recommend stripping it before uploading.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We use them only for functional purposes — never for advertising or third-party tracking.
Here’s what we set and when:
Comment cookies — If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. This simply saves you from re-entering those details next time. These cookies expire after one year.
Login cookies — When you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser supports cookies. It holds no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we set additional cookies to manage your session and display preferences. Login cookies last two days, and display preference cookies last one year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends your session to two weeks. Logging out removes your login cookies.
Editing cookies — If you edit or publish content, a cookie is saved to record the post ID of the article you worked on. It contains no personal data and expires after one day.
Embedded content
Some articles may include embedded content from other websites — such as videos, images, or external articles. This content behaves exactly as if you visited that website directly, which means those sites may collect data, set their own cookies, and track your interaction with the content. This is especially true if you hold an account with that service and are logged in.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell, trade, or voluntarily share your personal data with third parties. The only exception: if you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security purposes.
Visitor comments may be processed through an automated spam detection service.
How long we keep your data
Comments and their associated metadata are retained indefinitely, so that follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically rather than held in moderation.
If you register for an account, the personal information you provide is stored in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete that information at any time — with the exception of your username, which cannot be changed. Site administrators also have access to this information.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported copy of your data, or ask us to erase it entirely. This does not include data we are legally required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
To exercise any of these rights, simply reach out to us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
